Time for the Supsics to return to Asia! Frank has always wanted to visit Okinawa for the WWII history, and Anne happened to find a cruise that does just that.
We'll spend a couple days in Hong Kong, one of our favorite Asian cities, and then cruise our way to Shanghai, stopping at lots of fascinating ports.
Here is our itinerary:
Fly to Hong Kong (with an overnight stay in San Francisco) -- spend three days exploring the city of Hong Kong, especially the street markets
Board our Holland America Volendam cruise ship
Manila, Philippines -- visit Corregidor Island to see the barracks, Pacific War Memorial Museum, and the Malinta Tunnel
Kaohsiung, Taiwan -- explore the art centers along the waterfront and see the Dragon and Tiger Pagoda
Keelung, Taiwan -- take an excursion to soak in a mountain Hot Spring
Naha, Okinawa -- visit the WWII sites including a former Japanese Underground Naval Museum and explore the Izakayas (Okinawa music pubs)
Fukuoka, Japan -- explore the city and sample its famous ramen noodles
Nagasaki, Japan -- learn more about this city's tragic history at
Shanghai -- tour the French Concession and the Old Street markets
Fly home (with an overnight stay in San Francisco)
